FG Releases Traffic Advisory As Iddo Bridge Undergoes First 3-Months Of Reconstruction Work

OLORUNDARE ENIMOLA, Lagos

Engr. Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, has issued traffic advisory to pave way for the first 3 months of reconstruction exercise of the weakened Iddo Bridge gutted by fire some months back.

The Controller explained that from Saturday 15, November, 2025, the Bridge will be restricted to heavy and articulated vehicles on the inbound and outbound lanes, enforced with the erection of height limit barriers.

According to her, one of the barrier will erected around the U-turn by old Nipost to restrict those coming from Apapa, trying to go to Carter Bridge who will no longer be able to do that, requiring the traffic to take Costain ramp up to Eko Bridge, lasting for the repair period.

While the other limit barrier will restrict those coming from Ilubirin and linking Carter Bridge, hindering them from descending to the iddo Bridge.

Keisha revealed that three major spans of the bridge will be demolished and reconstructed to bring it back to the state it was during first construction.

Saying, “We’re looking at three months. Three months for the demolition and the reconstruction, between now to the end of February, or March, because we need to give the deck time to cure before we’ll open it to traffic. Then we’ll come to this side and then do the same. Then we’ll open to traffic.”

She expressed the desire of the government to have the attention of articulated truck drivers and owners, to be aware of the impending action of government on this axis.

Stressing that articulated vehicles coming to Carter Bridge and wants to use iddo Bridge can go through Eko Bridge from Costain roundabout, while those coming from Island and going to Oyinbo have other routes, without coming close to the bridge.

Advising the drivers to take the Third Mainland Bridge with a turn to Adekunle and then navigate through Herbert Macaulay to get to Oyingbo.

She concluded by saying traffic managers are going to be deployed for the management of traffic while the construction work lasts and a stakeholder meeting had been held to inform them of the impending traffic arrangement.
