The management of Bells University of Technology has been recognised with multiple awards of excellence in appreciation of its contributions to youth empowerment and grassroots sports development.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jeremiah O. Ojediran, alongside the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ngozi U. Arisa, and the institution’s Sports Director, Dr. Oyewole Oluwapamilerin, were honoured during a ceremony held on April 9, 2026, at the Vice Chancellor’s office in Ota, Ogun State.
Prof. Ojediran and Prof. Arisa were each conferred with the title “Icon of Youth Empowerment, Transformation of Hope,” while Dr. Oluwapamilerin received the “Youth Empowerment Ambassador” award. The university was also recognised as the “Best Supporting University.”
The awards were presented in recognition of the institution’s pivotal role in supporting the successful hosting of the third edition of the Olota of Ota Male and Female Soccer Competition, organised in honour of the Olota of Ota, Oba Abdulkabir Adeyemi Obalanlege.
The tournament was organised by Travellers Network Magazine in collaboration with the traditional ruler.
Speaking on the rationale behind the awards, the publisher of the magazine, Olaniyi Akinbode, said the recipients were selected after a thorough evaluation of their outstanding support and commitment to the competition.
“The award is our way of expressing sincere appreciation. The university community played a crucial role in ensuring the success of the tournament. We look forward to sustaining this collaboration with an institution that continues to exemplify excellence,” Akinbode said.
In his acceptance remarks, Prof. Ojediran expressed gratitude to the organisers and the monarch for the recognition.
“Thank you for your thoughtfulness, kindness, and generosity. This honour is deeply appreciated,” he said.
The Olota Football Competition, alongside marathon, track and field events, is designed to engage male and female students from secondary schools across Ado-Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Organisers also announced that the fourth edition of the Olota of Ota Cup, as well as the second marathon, track and field events, are scheduled to hold in the first week of October 2026.
