Kogi Seeks Stronger Partnership With FG On Federal Roads Development

The Kogi State Government has intensified efforts to strengthen collaboration with the Federal Government on road infrastructure, as the State Commissioner for Works, Hon. Abdulsalami Momodu Ozigi Deedat, paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Works, David Nweze Umahi, in Abuja.

During the meeting, Deedat commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for prioritising infrastructure under the Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that ongoing projects across the country are already yielding visible improvements.

He explained that the visit was aimed at fostering closer cooperation between the Kogi State Ministry of Works and the Federal Ministry of Works to enhance the delivery of critical road projects. According to him, improved collaboration would boost transportation efficiency, ease traffic congestion, and stimulate economic growth in Kogi State and surrounding regions.

The commissioner also appealed for urgent federal intervention on key roads within the state, including the Lokoja–Okene Road, Ajaokuta Road, Itobe Road, and Mopa–Isanlu Road. He stressed that rehabilitating these routes is vital, given Kogi’s strategic position as a major transit hub linking different parts of the country.

In his response, Umahi described Kogi as the “heart of the nation” and lauded Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his commitment to infrastructure development and citizens’ welfare. He assured the delegation of continued federal support and disclosed plans to visit the state to assess ongoing and proposed projects.

The delegation included several members of the National Assembly and officials of the Kogi State Ministry of Works, reflecting a unified push to accelerate infrastructure development and improve connectivity across the state.
