Brake Failure Causes Multi-Vehicle Crash At Chevron Junction In Lagos

OLORUNDARE ENIMOLA, Lagos

A road traffic accident involving a flatbed truck and three other vehicles occurred earlier today at Chevron Junction along the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos.

According to a press statement, the truck, which was transporting a 40-foot container, reportedly lost control due to brake failure, leading to a collision with multiple vehicles at the busy junction.

Authorities confirmed that no fatalities were recorded in the incident. However, the truck driver sustained head injuries and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

The vehicles involved in the crash include a Hyundai saloon car with registration number FKJ-268JS, a commercial minibus marked MUS-561YJ, a Toyota Corolla with registration KTU-160JQ, and the flatbed truck, whose registration number was not immediately available.

Emergency response teams, including the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), were deployed to the scene to manage traffic and oversee recovery efforts.

Officials said recovery operations were ongoing at the time of reporting, while motorists and residents in the area were advised to remain calm and cooperate with authorities as efforts continue to restore normal traffic flow.
