TRACE Assures Effective Traffic Control, Emergency Response For Ojude Oba Festival
OLORUNDARE ENIMOLA, Lagos
The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) has assured residents and visitors of effective traffic management and round-the-clock emergency and rescue services during the 2026 Ojude Oba Festival scheduled for Friday, May 29.
In a statement issued by the agency’s Media and Strategy Unit, the most senior TRACE Commander overseeing administration and operations, Commander Elias Omonayajo, said extensive arrangements had been put in place to guarantee seamless vehicular movement and public safety throughout the cultural celebration.
Omonayajo described the Ojude Oba Festival as a major cultural event that showcases the rich heritage and traditions of the Ijebu people, noting that the agency expects a significant increase in human and vehicular traffic during the festivities.
He identified possible challenges during the event to include traffic congestion, vehicle breakdowns, obstruction of roadways, overloading, speeding, drunk driving and road crashes.
According to him, TRACE has deployed additional personnel and mobilised members of its voluntary arm, TRACE Mayors, to strategic locations and traffic-prone areas across entry and exit routes linked to the festival venue.
He added that the agency would also collaborate with other security and safety agencies under the Ogun State Security Architecture to maintain orderliness and ensure the protection of lives and property during the celebration.
The TRACE commander urged motorists to cooperate with traffic officials, obey traffic regulations and ensure that their vehicles are roadworthy before embarking on their journeys.
He further advised road users to avoid reckless driving, excessive speeding and other traffic violations capable of endangering lives.
For emergencies and other distress situations, the agency urged members of the public to contact TRACE through its toll-free emergency line, 112, or via 0706 942 5555, 0806 270 3568 and 0803 491 9165.
The agency also noted that its social media platforms would provide real-time traffic updates, advisories and information on diversions in the event of road blockages or crashes.
