OLORUNDARE ENIMOLA, Lagos
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has announced that its newly inaugurated 3367 toll-free call centre received 2,843 public engagements within its first 30 days of operation, describing the response as evidence of growing public confidence in the agency’s service delivery.
According to LASTMA, the digital centre, which commenced operations on June 28, processed the engagements between June 28 and July 29, 2026, reinforcing the agency’s commitment to transparency, accountability and citizen-centred traffic management.
A breakdown of the engagements showed that the call centre handled 1,047 enquiry calls, 709 commendation calls, 468 successfully resolved cases, 400 reports of traffic accidents and vehicle breakdowns, 163 formal complaints, 11 information requests and 45 unsuccessful calls, mainly due to abandoned calls, network interruptions and other technical issues.
LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, described the encouraging public response as a strong endorsement of the agency’s drive towards operational excellence, institutional integrity and professional service delivery.
He also disclosed that the agency has established a Physical Complaint Centre at its headquarters in Oshodi to complement the toll-free call centre by providing residents with a walk-in platform to lodge complaints, make enquiries and report traffic-related issues, including allegations of misconduct against LASTMA officials.
According to Bakare-Oki, the new complaint centre forms part of the agency’s ongoing institutional reform aimed at strengthening public confidence, enhancing transparency and creating additional channels for engagement between LASTMA and road users.
“The Physical Complaint Centre complements our 3367 Toll-Free Call Centre by providing members of the public who prefer face-to-face engagement with a convenient platform to report traffic-related concerns, seek clarifications and lodge complaints regarding the conduct of our officers,” he said.
He assured residents that every complaint received through either platform would be investigated thoroughly in line with established administrative procedures and the principles of natural justice.
The LASTMA boss reaffirmed the agency’s zero-tolerance policy on corruption, extortion, abuse of office and other forms of professional misconduct, stressing that any officer found culpable after due process would face appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with the Public Service Rules and the agency’s regulations.
Bakare-Oki added that both the digital call centre and the Physical Complaint Centre are key components of LASTMA’s broader institutional transformation agenda designed to improve transparency, strengthen accountability and enhance communication with the public.
He urged motorists, commuters, transport operators, corporate organisations, civil society groups and other stakeholders to make responsible use of the agency’s complaint and feedback channels, noting that public participation remains essential to improving road safety, traffic management and the overall efficiency of Lagos State’s transportation system.
