Delta Governor Inaugurates 18km Road Network In Ndokwa West

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has inaugurated three major road projects spanning approximately 18 kilometres in Ndokwa West Local Government Area, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to equitable infrastructure development across the state.

The projects commissioned on Wednesday include the 4.5-kilometre Obi-Ibabu/Ibabu Road, Phase One of the five-kilometre Utagba-Uno/Ndemili Road, and the 8.4-kilometre Etua-Ukpo/Etua-Etiti/Etua-Oliogo Road.

Speaking during the inauguration of the Utagba-Uno/Ndemili Road, Oborevwori described the projects as strategic investments designed to improve connectivity, stimulate economic growth and accelerate rural development in Ndokwa Nation.

He directed the Commissioner for Works to commence preparations for the second phase of the Utagba-Uno/Ndemili Road project, assuring residents that the road would be completed in line with the administration’s phased implementation plan.

According to the governor, the newly commissioned roads reflect his administration’s resolve to ensure balanced development across all parts of Delta State through prudent management of resources.

Oborevwori, however, expressed dissatisfaction with delays in the execution of the Inam-Abbi Access Road and Utagba-Uno–Eweshi Road projects, warning that unnecessary setbacks in project delivery would not be tolerated. He instructed the Ministry of Works to ensure both projects are completed before the end of the year.

The governor also disclosed that construction was ongoing on several key infrastructure projects in Ndokwa Nation, including the Emu-Ebendo-Iyasele-Ashaka Road, the access road to the Kwale Industrial Park, Emu-Beneku Road, Ogbedigbo-Afor Road, and Timber Road to Waterside in Obiaruku.

Addressing concerns over the prolonged power outage affecting communities in the area, Oborevwori said the state government had approved the rehabilitation of damaged electricity infrastructure.

He lamented the vandalism of some facilities after their completion and urged residents to safeguard public assets, assuring them that efforts were underway to restore electricity supply to affected communities.

Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme described the inauguration of the roads as a significant milestone for the people of Ndokwa Nation, while Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, said the projects had improved access to previously isolated communities and would enhance economic activities in the area.

Chairman of Ndokwa West Local Government Council, Obi Nzete, alongside other community leaders, commended the governor for what they described as unprecedented infrastructure development in the region.
