Ogun FRSC Celebrates 2026 World Bicycle Day With Cycling Rally
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Sector Command, today joined the global community in commemorating the 8th United Nations World Bicycle Day in compliance with the directive of the Corps Marshal.
The event was organised in collaboration with the Cycling Federation of Nigeria, Ogun State Branch, as part of efforts to promote cycling as a healthy, environmentally friendly, and sustainable means of transportation.
The cycling rally was attended by the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, senior officers of the Command, the State Coordinator of Special Marshals, officers and marshals of the Corps, as well as members of the Cycling Federation of Nigeria, Ogun State Branch.
Speaking during the event, the Sector Commander highlighted the numerous benefits of cycling, emphasising its positive impact on personal health, physical fitness, environmental sustainability, and overall well-being. He noted that cycling contributes significantly to the reduction of carbon emissions while promoting healthier lifestyles among citizens.
According to him, World Bicycle Day provides an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of cycling and encourages individuals and communities to embrace the bicycle as a simple, affordable, reliable, and environmentally friendly means of transportation.
As part of the commemoration, participants embarked on a cycling rally led by the Sector Commander, covering a distance of approximately five kilometres from the Sector Command Headquarters to OPIC Roundabout and back.
The event was successfully conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner without any security or safety incidents.
The Ogun State Sector Command remains committed to promoting road safety, healthy living, environmental sustainability, and safer mobility for all road users.
