Angola Hosts Meeting Of African Airline Executives
The 57th Annual General Meeting and Summit of the African Airlines Association (AFRAA) are underway in the Angolan capital Luanda under the theme “Sustainable Skies, a Connected Africa.”
Running from 30 November to 2 December, the event is organised in partnership with the national carrier TAAG Angola Airlines.
This gathering brings together AFRAA member airlines, industry partners, representatives of regional and international associations, and other decision-makers from the aviation sector.
“This crucial forum will enable the industry to create an enabling environment essential for the prosperity of air transport and its contribution to the development of the African continent,” AFRAA secretary general Abderahmane Berthe said.
He added that discussions are focusing on “the sustainability of air transport in Africa” and the meeting has provides a platform for stakeholders “to better prepare themselves to make the travel ecosystem more resilient and viable.”
TAAG Angola managing director and AFRAA president for 2025, Nelson Rodrigues de Oliveira, expressed the host country’s enthusiasm.
“It is with great satisfaction and immense enthusiasm that Angola will host the 57th AFRAA General Assembly in Luanda. TAAG welcomes you to our magnificent country.”
He highlighted the diversity of Angola’s tourist attractions and the importance of air transport for territorial integration.
“Aviation plays a very important role in the cohesion of our country by connecting the most remote regions and enabling the mobility of people and goods.”
According to him, the Angolan presidency of AFRAA is focusing on cooperation, intra-African connectivity and strategic partnerships to strengthen the competitiveness of African airlines.
He emphasized that TAAG’s vision is to become ‘the leading airline connecting Southern Africa to the rest of the world, prioritizing sustainability and innovation.’”
