FRSC, NEMA Train 59 Security Offices On Coordinated Rescue Operations In Osun

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) have trained 59 officers drawn from various security agencies in Osun State on coordinated rescue operations.

The efforts by the two agencies aimed at strengthening inter-agency collaboration and enhance emergency response to road crashes and other disasters in the state.

The operatives selected from security agencies include; 28 operatives of FRSC, Gbongan Unit, two officers of the Nigeria Police Force, two personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), a representative of the Department of State Services (DSS) and two personnel of the Osun State Fire Service.

Also, four members of the FRSC Unit 29 Special Marshals, three tow-truck operators, 4 personnel of Osun Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance Systems, and representatives of partnering hospitals and medical practitioners within Gbongan and its environs.

In his opening remarks, the Chief Route Commander, Jude Odinfono, emphasized on the importance of inter-agency collaboration in modern emergency response operations, noting that effective rescue operations depend largely on timely coordination, disciplined scene management, clear communication, and rapid medical intervention.

Odinfono said, “I want to encourage participants to leverage on the workshop as an opportunity to strengthen operational relationships and improve the efficiency of joint rescue operations across the Command’s jurisdiction.”

He added that the training tagged ‘Strengthening Emergency Rescue Response Systems, Scene Management, and Inter-Agency Coordination’ was designed to enhance operational synergy, strengthen communication frameworks, improve collaborative response capacity, and renew the collective commitment of emergency stakeholders to safeguarding lives on the highways.

Also, Director-General of NEMA represented by Assistant Head of Operations, NEMA Operations, Mr. Olanrewaju Kazeem, highlighted disaster management cycle and prevailing operational challenges with legal framework as he unveiled SAPEEP document, lead agencies, and assigned roles of various organizations during emergency situations.

He underscored the principles of coordinated emergency rescue operations and the importance of rapid casualty stabilization, safe evacuation procedures, and proper referral of victims to medical facilities, particularly during major crash incidents.

Subsequently, emergency materials were presented to the FRSC Command.
