FRSC Trains Zamfara Traffic Agency Personnel On Professional Road Traffic Enforcement

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Zamfara State Sector Command, has organized a capacity-building training for personnel of the Zamfara Road Traffic Agency (ZAROTA) to enhance professionalism in road traffic management and improve interactions with motorists across the state.

The training, held at the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Hall along Bye-Pass Road in Gusau, was supervised by the Zamfara State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Aliyu Ma’aji.

Speaking during the exercise, Ma’aji said the programme was designed to familiarize ZAROTA personnel with the rules, ethics, and legal framework guiding traffic enforcement. He stressed that traffic officials must carry out their duties professionally and refrain from intimidating, harassing, or embarrassing members of the public.

He also commended the ZAROTA Commandant for his commitment to improving the agency’s operations and fostering collaboration with relevant security agencies.

The Commandant of ZAROTA, Muhammad Bello Musa, acknowledged receiving several complaints from members of the public regarding the conduct of some personnel, describing such behaviour as unacceptable.

According to him, the agency is currently handling 48 court cases and remains committed to ensuring that its officers operate within the law. He urged participants to apply the knowledge gained from the training in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Musa also appreciated the support of the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Department of State Services (DSS) in promoting effective traffic management and public safety in the state.

Representing the Emir of Gusau, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim Bello, the District Head of Tudun Wada, Alhaji Nuraddeen Kabir Dan Baba, commended the FRSC for organizing the training, describing it as a positive step toward improving road traffic administration in Zamfara State.

Representatives of the Police, NSCDC, and the DSS also praised the initiative and reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation with the FRSC and ZAROTA in ensuring safer roads and effective traffic enforcement across the state.
