FUTD Seeks Experts’ Collaboration To Improve Aviation Manpower, Capacity

OLORUNDARE ENIMOLA, Lagos

Prof. Umar Adam Katsayal, the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Transportation, Daura, has called on Caliphate Aviation Training Centre, Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and other stakeholders in transportation to partner with the Federal University of Transportation, Daura, to transform the Aviation sector in Nigeria.

The Vice-Chancellor made the call during his remark on Friday, 31, October, 2025, at the centenary celebration of Mal. Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA).

Prof. Katsayal, mni, commended the Calipate Aviation Training Centre for organising the event to mark the 100-year anniversary of the first aircraft’s landing in Nigeria at Kano.

The Vice-Chancellor lamented the slow rate of progress made in the sector, saying that the development witnessed should have been more than what is currently available.

“There is the need for more attention to be given to the aviation sector of the country.

“We are talking about 100 years. We need to look back and assess the achievements recorded within this period”, he said.

According to him, the Federal University of Transportation, Daura, was established to provide the needed man-power in the transport sector.

“Considering that, we are ready to partner with all relevant stakeholders in the performance of our expected mandates.

“The University is ready to undertake researches for the improvement of aviation services including its logistics,” the Vice-Chancellor assured.
