Her professional journey includes collaborations with leading international development institutions and active participation in United States-Africa economic diplomacy. She has contributed to policy advocacy aimed at strengthening trade and economic relations between Africa and the United States, including support for initiatives under the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).
As a former board member of an African trade advocacy network, she engaged with members of the United States Congress on policies designed to expand economic opportunities and deepen development partnerships between both regions.
Beyond diplomacy, Zossoungbo has become widely recognised for mentoring young African professionals through international leadership programmes, including the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) and the Mandela Washington Fellowship. In Benin, she has personally sponsored educational initiatives, including spelling bee competitions and other youth development programmes aimed at encouraging academic excellence, confidence and leadership among students.
As a university lecturer in California, Zossoungbo also educated hundreds of students on Africa’s history, cultural diversity and global contributions, helping to challenge stereotypes and foster greater appreciation of the continent.
Her humanitarian work has equally attracted recognition. Through annual African food fundraising events organised with university student volunteers, she mobilised financial and material support for orphanages in Benin and Côte d’Ivoire, combining cultural promotion with humanitarian assistance for vulnerable children.
A passionate advocate for women’s empowerment, Zossoungbo has supported programmes promoting female entrepreneurship, economic independence, education and sexual health awareness, positively impacting hundreds of girls and women.
Her commitment to peacebuilding and community service was acknowledged in 2006 when she was nominated as a Peace Ambassador in Benin.
