Ikorodu Ferry Terminal Reopens for Passenger Operations Monday
OLORUNDARE ENIMOLA, Lagos
The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has announced the reopening of the Ikorodu Ferry Terminal for passenger ferry operations, effective Monday, January 19, 2026.
In a statement issued by LASWA management, the authority recalled that the terminal was closed on October 20, 2025, due to navigational challenges caused by the infestation of water hyacinth along the waterway.
During the period of closure, ferry services were temporarily redirected to the Ibeshe Ferry Terminal and Offin Jetty to ensure continuity of operations.
LASWA noted that the decision to reopen the terminal followed the successful clearance of the affected waterway, completion of comprehensive safety assessments, and consultations with the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA). The terminal has now been certified safe for full passenger ferry operations.
All ferry operators have been directed to resume normal services at the Ikorodu Ferry Terminal in line with their approved schedules, while ensuring strict adherence to all existing safety and operational regulations.
The authority reaffirmed its commitment to safe, efficient, and reliable water transportation across Lagos State.
