Two Die In Keke Napep, SUV Crash In Adamawa

Two persons have died in a road crash involving a commercial tricycle, popularly known as Keke Napep, and an SUV along Sangere Futy Road in Yola, Adamawa State.

The deceased were identified as the tricycle operator, popularly known as “Abba,” and a passenger, Shamsuya Musa.

The Adamawa State Police Command confirmed the incident on Tuesday, with its spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, saying the two victims died in the crash.

Nguroje said the Command’s Motor Traffic Division had commenced an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The crash has renewed concerns over traffic congestion and road safety along Sangere Futy Road, a major route into Yola from the northeastern axis.

The route experiences heavy vehicular and pedestrian movement, partly due to the large number of commercial tricycles operating in the area and its proximity to Modibbo Adama University.

Residents and other road users have repeatedly raised concerns about congestion and the risks associated with the high volume of Keke Napep operators transporting students, workers and other commuters.

Following the latest tragedy, residents have called for improved traffic management and stronger road safety measures along the corridor to prevent further loss of lives.

The police investigation is expected to establish the cause of the crash.
