NPA Eastern Ports, Maritime Workers Union Strengthen Partnership For Growth

Managers and heads of the eastern ports under the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) have reaffirmed their commitment to fostering stronger collaboration with the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) and other key stakeholders to drive development and efficiency across the ports.

This renewed resolve was highlighted by Mrs. Edith Kelechi Okezie, Manager of Port Harcourt Port, during the inaugural Eastern Port Joint District Council 2026 held on Wednesday. She emphasized the importance of inclusive stakeholder engagement, noting that sustainable port development depends on the collective efforts of all parties involved.

Okezie urged members of the union to play an active role in advancing the fortunes of the eastern ports through dedication, professionalism, and a shared vision of excellence. According to her, such commitment would position the zone as a leading hub within the NPA network.

In his remarks, the President of the NPA branch of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, Comrade Ajayi Bamidele Alex, represented by Comrade Fagbemi Olakunle, expressed optimism that deliberations at the meeting would yield actionable resolutions aimed at improving operational efficiency and productivity.

He stressed that punctuality and dedication to duty remain essential pillars for progress, reaffirming the union’s readiness to uphold its responsibilities while contributing meaningfully to the growth and modernization of port operations.

The meeting marks a significant step toward strengthening synergy among stakeholders, with a shared goal of enhancing service delivery and boosting the overall performance of Nigeria’s eastern ports.
