NIMASA Reaffirms Commitment To Efficient, Transparent Maritime Administration
The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has reaffirmed its commitment to building an efficient, transparent and globally competitive maritime administration through sustained reforms and stronger stakeholder collaboration.
The Director-General of NIMASA, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, made the pledge while receiving the leadership of the Alumni Association of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (AMANO), led by its President, Mr. Emmanuel Maiguwa, during a courtesy visit to the agency’s headquarters in Lagos.
Mobereola said the agency remains focused on strengthening Nigeria’s maritime sector by implementing reforms, enhancing regulatory oversight, promoting innovation and creating more opportunities for Nigerian seafarers in line with the policy direction of the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.
According to him, NIMASA’s vision is to establish a maritime administration that meets global standards while supporting the growth and competitiveness of the country’s maritime industry.
Earlier, AMANO President Emmanuel Maiguwa commended the agency for successfully deploying its electronic platform for the issuance of Seafarers’ Certificates, describing it as a major milestone that has improved efficiency, transparency and accessibility in the certification process.
Maiguwa also praised NIMASA’s strategic partnerships and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), noting that they have expanded opportunities for the training, certification and employment of Nigerian seafarers.
He expressed the association’s readiness to strengthen collaboration with the agency and identified key areas where continued engagement would further advance the development of Nigeria’s maritime sector.
