LASTMA Rescues Seven In Ogudu Crash, Hawker Dies In Okokomaiko Accident

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has responded to two separate road accidents in Lagos, rescuing seven injured passengers in Ogudu and recovering the body of a hawker killed in a fatal crash at Okokomaiko.

The agency said the fatal incident at Okokomaiko involved a Lexus Jeep with registration number SMK 674 HY, which struck an adult male roadside hawker, leading to his death.

Officials of LASTMA who arrived promptly at the scene secured the area and evacuated the remains of the deceased from the carriageway to restore traffic flow and prevent further incidents.

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force from Ketu Division subsequently conveyed the body to the Badagry Mortuary for the necessary procedures.

In a separate incident, LASTMA personnel also intervened in a collision at Ogudu inward Toll Gate involving a Mazda commercial bus with registration number MUS 231 YA and a Lexus Jeep marked FKJ 23 HL.

The crash left seven passengers injured, all of whom were rescued at the scene by traffic officials.

Emergency response teams, including officers from the Ogudu Police Division and the Lagos State Ambulance Service, were on the ground to support rescue efforts, with the injured victims evacuated to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention.

Authorities confirmed that all vehicles involved in both accidents had been handed over to the police for further investigation to determine the causes of the crashes.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare Oki, reiterated the agency’s call for heightened road safety awareness among motorists.

He urged drivers to obey traffic regulations, maintain safe speeds, and exercise caution, particularly during late-night hours when visibility is often reduced.
