The Federal Road Safety Corps in Ogun State has arrested 321 motorists and vehicle operators for various traffic offences, including overloading, number plate violations, unlatched containers, and dangerous driving.

The arrests were made during a special enforcement exercise tagged “Operation Guduma,” carried out across the state under directives from the FRSC National Headquarters in Abuja.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Ogun State FRSC spokesperson, Afolabi Odunsi, the operation was supervised by Assistant Corps Marshal J.O. Asaolu and coordinated by the Ogun State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi.

Ogunjobi commended officers involved in the operation for their professionalism and dedication during the special intervention patrol aimed at improving road safety and enforcing traffic regulations.

According to him, 185 overloaded vehicles were apprehended during the exercise, while 127 motorists were booked for number plate violations. He added that three mixed-loading offences and four cases involving unlatched containers were also recorded and sanctioned.

The sector commander noted that no fake diplomatic number plates were discovered during the operation, although several motorists were penalised for dangerous driving.

He stressed that despite the conclusion of the special operation, the command would continue intensive monitoring and enforcement against traffic violations across Ogun State.

Ogunjobi warned that the use of fake number plates constitutes a major security threat and reiterated the FRSC’s commitment to identifying and prosecuting offenders.

He also urged motorists, fleet operators, transport unions, and other road users to comply with traffic regulations and safety standards to reduce road crashes and promote safer highways.

The FRSC boss reaffirmed the command’s commitment to professionalism, fairness, and proactive road safety management in line with the statutory responsibilities of the corps.
