Kogi Inspects Completed, Ongoing Road Projects In Three LGAs

The Kogi State Ministry of Works has conducted an inspection tour of completed and ongoing road projects across Okene, Okehi and Adavi Local Government Areas, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to infrastructure development.

The inspection team, led by the Commissioner for Works, Abdulsalami Momodu Ozigi Deedat, visited several project sites, including the newly completed Ogaminana–Obangede–Oziokutu Road.

Speaking during the tour, Deedat said the road project had significantly improved connectivity among communities in the area and enhanced residents’ quality of life.

According to him, the road, which spans about nine kilometres, was previously in a poor condition, making movement difficult for residents and motorists.

“This road connects several communities. It was in a deplorable state before, but its completion has brought immense relief to the people,” he said.

The commissioner attributed the successful execution of the project to the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, noting that ongoing infrastructure investments were contributing to development across the state.

Residents of the affected communities expressed appreciation for the completed projects, saying the improved road network had eased transportation challenges and boosted economic activities.

They also commended the state government for prioritising infrastructure development and improving the welfare of citizens.

Deedat urged residents to embrace a maintenance culture and safeguard public infrastructure to ensure the roads remain in good condition for years to come.

As part of the tour, the delegation also visited the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, where they inspected newly constructed internal roads and other infrastructure projects on campus.

The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Salawu Abdulrahman Asipita, who received the delegation, said recent government interventions had improved security, mobility and learning conditions within the university.

He highlighted the establishment of a modern control and monitoring centre as well as the expansion of the university’s road network, describing the institution as one of the fastest-growing universities in the country.

Students who interacted with the delegation commended the state government for improvements in infrastructure and campus security, pledging to contribute positively to the development of the institution and the state.

The inspection team included the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Electronic Media, Adebayo Ohiare; the Technical Assistant to the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Sulle Anthony; and other officials from the Ministry of Works.
