Kogi Works Commissioner Inspects Federal Road Projects

The Kogi State Commissioner for Works, Hon. Barr. Abdulsalami Ozigi Deedat, has inspected ongoing federal road projects across the state, directing contractors to strictly adhere to approved specifications and engineering standards.

The inspection, which took place on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, followed a directive from the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, after his recent assessment tour of federal road projects in Kogi State.

The Commissioner said the exercise was aimed at ensuring compliance with the standards of the Federal Ministry of Works and guaranteeing quality delivery, timely completion, and value for public investment.

He disclosed that the Kogi State Ministry of Works had been mandated to closely monitor ongoing federal road projects within the state and ensure that contractors comply with all contractual obligations, regulations, and technical requirements.

According to him, any deviation from approved designs and specifications would not be tolerated, adding that regular inspections and continuous supervision would be sustained until the completion of the projects.

“The Honourable Minister has personally inspected these projects and has directed the state ministry to maintain close supervision to ensure quality execution and proper utilisation of public funds,” the Commissioner stated.

The Commissioner was accompanied on the inspection tour by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Federal Roads, Hon. Emmanuel Obasi; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Engr. Abdulsalam Mohammed Sagir; Director of Civil Engineering Department, Engr. Sunday Baba; Senior Engineer in the ministry, Engr. Sulle Anthony Omeiza, among other officials.

Projects inspected during the visit included the Abaji–Chikara–Gegu Koton Karfe Road (one lane), the Koton Karfe–Abaji Road (other lane), Lokoja–Okene–Benin Road, and the Lokoja–Iziho Road towards Jamata.

The state government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting federal infrastructure initiatives and ensuring that road projects executed within Kogi State meet expected quality and durability standards for the benefit of residents and road users.
