Wike Promises December Completion Of Abuja Road Projects

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has assured residents that ongoing road projects across Abuja will be completed by December, describing the delivery as a Christmas gift from President Bola Tinubu.

Wike gave the assurance on Tuesday in Abuja after inspecting construction work on three major road projects, including Arterial Road NI, linking Wuye to Ring Road II; Tungan Madaki–Zuba Road; and the Zaudna–Kaba–Kagini corridor leading to the Kubwa Expressway.

The minister’s aide, Lere Olayinka, disclosed the development in a statement shared on X.

During the inspection, Wike expressed satisfaction with the progress and quality of work on the projects, commending the contractors for their commitment to meeting the December completion deadline.

He said the delivery of the roads would bring relief to residents and stimulate economic activities in communities along the affected corridors.

“I’m very impressed with the jobs so far, and I’m also impressed with the commitment of the contractors,” Wike said.

According to him, the projects were intended to improve living conditions and provide residents with a reason to celebrate during the Christmas period.

“We have promised the residents that this will be their Christmas gift by Mr President as part of their Christmas gift so that they’ll go back home and enjoy their Christmas celebration,” he stated.

Wike explained that improved road infrastructure would ease transportation challenges while supporting economic growth in communities that had previously experienced limited connectivity.

“You can imagine the happiness of those who stay here. You know that with these roads the economy of the affected communities will change,” he added.

The FCT minister acknowledged that rainfall had affected the pace of some earthworks but expressed confidence that construction activities would accelerate as the rainy season subsided.

He said the weather was expected to improve from the first week of October, allowing contractors to intensify work and make progress towards the December deadline.
