Tipper Truck Dangles From Kara Bridge As Two Other Trucks Disrupt Lagos Traffic

An empty tipper truck was left dangling from the railings of Kara Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Tuesday morning, while another truck spilled its contents onto the road in separate incidents inward Mowe, Ogun State.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) disclosed this in a statement on its official X handle, noting that the incidents were reported at about 7am.

According to the agency, the empty tipper was seen hanging precariously on the bridge railings, while a flatbed truck spilled its load onto the road, creating potential hazards for motorists plying the route.

LASTMA said a tow truck had arrived at the scene to evacuate the affected vehicles, while police officers from Adigboluja were also present to support the operation.

The agency added that its personnel were on the ground managing traffic movement towards Mowe, noting that traffic flow remained smooth at the time of the report.

In a related development, LASTMA reported another truck-related incident at Shasha Roundabout, inward Akowonjo Roundabout, where a loaded DAF lorry broke down due to mechanical faults.

The agency said the lorry was occupying approximately 70 per cent of the road, posing a potential obstruction to motorists using the route.

It added that a tow truck had been contacted to remove the broken-down vehicle, while LASTMA officers were managing traffic to minimise disruption and ensure the smooth movement of vehicles.

The incidents highlight the potential traffic and safety challenges posed by heavy-duty vehicles that develop mechanical faults or become involved in accidents on busy roads.

LASTMA’s response at the affected locations was aimed at facilitating the removal of the vehicles and maintaining traffic flow while the necessary operations were underway.
