The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Special Marshals Zone RS2, comprising Lagos and Ogun States, has emerged the best-performing zone in Nigeria following the conclusion of the national evaluation of Special Marshals activities across the country.

Zone RS2 secured the first position with an outstanding score of 96 per cent, ahead of other zones evaluated for their operational performance, advocacy programmes, infrastructure development, training, documentation, and overall contributions to road safety.

The evaluation placed Zone RS7, covering the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Niger State, in second position with 94 per cent, while Zone RS6, comprising Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Bayelsa States, came third with 90 per cent.

The remarkable achievement was attributed to the visionary leadership of the RS2 Zonal Coordinator, Special Marshal (Pastor) Olusegun Akintan, whose commitment and strategic approach have strengthened operational efficiency and unity among members across Lagos and Ogun States.

Special recognition was also given to the State Coordinator of RS2.1 Lagos Special Marshals, Special Marshal (Dr.) Olabisi O. Dennis, for his outstanding contributions in positioning Lagos among the leading states in Special Marshal activities nationwide.

The evaluation report described Lagos Special Marshals as having one of the most extensive and diversified portfolios of activities, highlighting various road safety initiatives, including public enlightenment campaigns, Road Safety Club programmes, school and church advocacy, training sessions, stakeholder engagements, equipment donations, patrol vehicle rehabilitation, and community-based interventions.

The report further commended the high level of participation, effective mobilization of units, infrastructure investments, and proper documentation of activities by members of the zone.

Stakeholders noted that the feat reflects the dedication of the zonal leadership, state executives, unit coordinators, and volunteers who continue to contribute their time and resources towards promoting safer roads across Nigeria.

With the continued support of Special Marshal (Pastor) Olusegun Akintan, Special Marshal (Dr.) Olabisi O. Dennis, and Ogun State Coordinator, Special Marshal Taiwo Salau Balogun, Zone RS2 is expected to sustain its position as a model of excellence, innovation, and selfless service within the FRSC Special Marshals family.
