Tinubu To Commission 30.58km Section Of Abuja-Kano Road

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to commission a completed 30.58-kilometre section of the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road project in Kano State as part of the Federal Government’s efforts to improve road infrastructure and enhance connectivity across the country.

The commissioning, scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, 2026, will cover sections of the road spanning the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital-Karfi axis and parts of Kunkumi under Sections I and III of the 118-kilometre project.

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, received the Minister of Works, David Umahi, on Tuesday ahead of the presidential commissioning.

The visit was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by Francis Nwaze, Senior Special Assistant to the Minister of Works on Media.

The Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road is a major transport corridor linking the Federal Capital Territory with Kaduna and Kano states, serving as an important route for the movement of people, goods and services across northern Nigeria.

The Federal Government’s ongoing road infrastructure interventions are aimed at improving transportation efficiency, reducing travel difficulties and strengthening economic activities in communities along major road networks.

The commissioning of the completed section is expected to mark another milestone in the government’s efforts to rehabilitate and upgrade critical road infrastructure, particularly along routes connecting major commercial and population centres.

The Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road project is considered strategically important to regional trade and mobility, given its role in facilitating interstate transportation and supporting commercial activities across the North-West and beyond.
