One Killed, Another Injured In Separate Road Crashes In Ogun

One person has been killed and another injured in two separate road accidents along major highways in Ogun State, the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) has confirmed.

The agency’s spokesperson, Babatunde Akinbiyi, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abeokuta, explaining that the crashes occurred on Friday, October 30, 2026.

The first accident occurred inbound to Sagamu along the Benin-Ore Expressway and involved an unregistered Mack truck that had broken down and an unregistered red motorcycle.

According to Akinbiyi, three people were involved in the crash, which claimed the life of one person at the scene. The other occupants escaped unhurt.

He attributed the incident to excessive speeding, stating that the motorcyclist rammed into the stationary truck.

The deceased’s body was subsequently evacuated to the morgue at the General Hospital, Ijebu-Ife.

In a separate incident, one person sustained injuries in a crash at Ayedere, near Obada-Oko, along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, outbound towards Abeokuta.

The accident involved a white Iveco truck without a registration number and a black Toyota Corolla with registration number FST568FN. Four people were reportedly involved in the incident.

Akinbiyi explained that a tyre burst on the truck caused the driver to lose control, resulting in the truck knocking the car into a ditch.

He added that TRACE officials and personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) arrived at the scene to conduct rescue operations.

However, a good Samaritan had taken the injured victim to the Obada Health Centre before the rescue team arrived.

The incidents underscore the need for motorists to observe speed limits, maintain their vehicles properly and exercise caution when approaching broken-down vehicles on highways.
