Dangote Cement, FRSC Deepen Partnership On Road Safety In Ogun

Dangote Cement Plc, Ibese Plant, and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Sector Command, have strengthened their partnership to promote safer road use, improve driver competence and enhance compliance with traffic regulations across the state.

The renewed collaboration followed a courtesy visit by the newly deployed Ogun State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, and members of his management team to the Ibese Plant.

Speaking during the engagement, Ogunjobi commended Dangote Cement for its longstanding support for the FRSC and its contributions to road safety initiatives.

He said the company’s extensive logistics and transportation operations made it an important stakeholder in efforts to improve road safety, stressing that safer roads required collective action from government agencies, private organisations, transport operators and other road users.

Ogunjobi proposed the establishment of an FRSC Special Marshal Unit within the Ibese Plant to strengthen safety awareness among employees, drivers and transport operators.

According to him, the proposed unit would support specialised driver training, regular sensitisation programmes and proactive safety campaigns aimed at reducing road crashes.

He also assured Dangote Cement of the Corps’ readiness to provide technical support through continuous engagement, capacity building and road safety enlightenment programmes.

Responding, the Plant Director of Dangote Cement Plc, Ibese Plant, Ayyagri Subbaraidu, described the FRSC as a critical stakeholder in the company’s operations and commended the Corps for its efforts to protect lives on Nigerian roads.

Subbaraidu said safety remained a central pillar of Dangote Cement’s operational philosophy and long-term growth strategy, noting that transportation was a vital component of the company’s business.

He said the company’s Vision 2030 places emphasis on responsible operations, sustainability and stakeholder collaboration, with road safety remaining a key priority.

The plant director welcomed the FRSC’s proposals, particularly those focused on driver education and safety awareness, assuring that the company would continue to explore initiatives capable of strengthening its partnership with the Corps.

He added that Dangote Cement was committed to advancing road safety campaigns, improving driver competence and enhancing compliance with safety regulations.

Both organisations expressed confidence that the strengthened partnership would contribute to safer transportation, improved driver behaviour and greater compliance with road safety regulations across Ogun State.
