Dangote Transport Deploys Driver Monitoring Technology To Improve Road Safety

LAGOS — Dangote Transport has deployed advanced driver-monitoring technology as part of efforts to improve road safety, enhance fleet management and reduce the risk of accidents across its nationwide transport operations.

The company said the initiative was designed to provide closer oversight of driver behaviour, strengthen accountability and promote safer driving practices as thousands of trucks transport raw materials and finished products across the country daily.

A representative of Dangote Transport said the rapid transformation of the transportation industry had made technology an increasingly important tool for managing large-scale fleet operations and improving safety standards.

The representative said the integration of advanced monitoring systems would provide the company with better visibility into driving behaviour and other operational activities, allowing management to identify areas that require improvement and take appropriate action.

At the centre of the initiative is the company’s Driver Monitoring Control Room, a dedicated platform established to monitor fleet activities and support the management of road safety across its operations.

According to the company, the control room represents a significant investment in its efforts to strengthen operational standards and minimise the risks associated with transporting goods by road on a large scale.

Dangote Transport also acknowledged the contribution of Nova Tracks, which it said played a key role in deploying the monitoring technology and supporting the company’s objective of creating safer and more efficient transport operations.

The company’s representative commended Nova Tracks for its collaboration, stressing that partnerships with technology providers were essential to developing practical solutions to the challenges facing modern fleet management.

Members of the visiting media also commended the initiative, describing the deployment as a practical example of how technology can be applied to address road safety challenges and improve accountability within large transport organisations.

The media representatives noted that the monitoring system could help encourage responsible driving while giving fleet managers greater oversight of vehicles and drivers operating across the country.

Dangote Transport said the deployment forms part of its broader strategy to promote safe driving, strengthen fleet management and achieve higher standards of operational excellence across its logistics network.
