Delta Residents Hail Julius Berger’s Warri Ring Road, Flyover Projects
Residents and business owners in Agbor, Ughelli and other communities across Delta State have expressed support for ongoing road and flyover projects being executed by Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, saying the infrastructure will improve transportation, boost commerce and stimulate economic growth.
The projects include the ongoing flyovers in Agbor and Ughelli, as well as the newly commenced Warri Ring Road, a major transport corridor expected to improve connectivity and facilitate industrial and commercial activities across the state.
Residents said the projects would go beyond addressing traffic challenges, noting that improved road infrastructure could reduce travel time, ease the movement of goods and services and make Delta State more attractive to investors.
In Agbor, residents said the ongoing flyover would complement the town’s expanding commercial activities by improving mobility for commuters, traders and other road users.
An Agbor-based entrepreneur, Chukwudi Nwosu, described infrastructure development as essential to sustainable economic growth.
“Infrastructure is the foundation of economic growth. These projects will make it easier for businesses to operate, attract investors and open new opportunities for young people and entrepreneurs across the state,” he said.
Residents of Ughelli also welcomed the Otovwodo Flyover, describing it as a significant investment that could transform transportation and stimulate economic activities in the area.
The Warri Ring Road, together with the various flyover projects, is expected to improve transportation efficiency, strengthen trade links and support industrial expansion across Delta State.
Stakeholders also noted that the projects could generate employment opportunities during construction and create additional economic activities after completion. Jobs are expected across areas including engineering, construction, logistics, equipment operations, security, material supply and hospitality.
The Warri/Effurun Roads and Flyovers Project comprises road expansion, three major flyovers, drainage systems and other supporting infrastructure being developed across several locations.
Economic experts said the long-term benefits could extend beyond the construction phase, as improved road networks could attract investments in manufacturing, agriculture, real estate, commerce and logistics.
A Warri businessman, Efe Edewor, said better transportation infrastructure would improve business efficiency and productivity across the state.
“The Ring Road and flyovers across Delta State will not only improve mobility but also drive commerce and industrial growth.
“When transportation becomes more efficient, businesses save costs, investments increase and local economies become stronger,” he said.
Despite heavy rainfall recorded across the state, Julius Berger workers continued construction activities on the Warri Ring Road and the flyover projects in Ughelli and Agbor over the weekend.
Providing an update on the Ring Road, the Project Manager, EmThomas Haug, said construction had commenced on the first 11-kilometre section of the project.
“Work has begun on the first 11 kilometres of the Ring Road project, and we are on it,” Haug said.
Haug also disclosed that the company had received letters of substantial completion from the Delta State Government for the DSC, Enerhen and PTI flyovers.
“All is going on well. We are completing the jobs, and it is good to see the progress being made with dedicated workers from Effurun to Ughelli to Agbor,” he said.
With construction progressing at multiple locations, residents expressed optimism that the projects would become catalysts for long-term economic transformation in Delta State.
They said the completed infrastructure would strengthen the state’s position as a hub for trade, logistics and investment while improving mobility and supporting sustainable development across the Niger Delta.
