Eno Leads Inspection Of Ibom Air’s Third Airbus A220-300

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has led a delegation of state officials and Ibom Air management to inspect the airline’s third Airbus A220-300 aircraft ahead of its delivery in Canada.

The pre-delivery inspection was conducted at Airbus Canada’s aircraft manufacturing facility in Mirabel, Quebec, as part of the formal acceptance process before the aircraft is delivered and eventually deployed for commercial operations.

A statement by Ibom Air’s Group Manager, Marketing and Communication, Aniekan Essienette, said the inspection marked another milestone in the airline’s fleet modernisation and expansion programme.

The delegation was received by the Chief Executive Officer of Airbus Canada, Guillaume Chevasson, during the inspection.

The aircraft is the third Airbus A220-300 in Ibom Air’s fleet and the second A220 to be delivered under the airline’s firm order for 10 Airbus A220 aircraft placed in 2021.

Governor Eno said the inspection demonstrated the state government’s commitment to developing Ibom Air as a strategic asset and advancing Akwa Ibom’s ambition of becoming a leading aviation hub.

According to him, the investment aligns with his administration’s ARISE Agenda and its focus on building world-class infrastructure and strengthening the state’s aviation capacity.

“We look forward to formally receiving this aircraft in Akwa Ibom State and to the economic opportunities that enhanced connectivity will create for trade, tourism, investment, and regional development,” Eno said.

The Chief Executive Officer of Ibom Air, George Uriesi, described the inspection as a significant step in the airline’s fleet expansion programme.

Uriesi said the airline remained focused on investing in modern aircraft capable of delivering improved operational efficiency, reliability, safety and passenger comfort as demand for air travel continues to increase across its markets.

He added that the Airbus A220 was well suited to Ibom Air’s network strategy and that the airline looked forward to deploying the new aircraft across its network.

Also speaking, Chevasson expressed satisfaction with Ibom Air’s confidence in Airbus, describing the A220 as an ideal aircraft for the airline’s fleet modernisation programme.

He highlighted the aircraft’s operational flexibility, fuel efficiency, passenger comfort and suitability for domestic and regional operations.

The arrival of the new aircraft is expected to further increase Ibom Air’s capacity and strengthen air connectivity across its network.
