FG, NADDC Train Youths In CNG Tricycle Maintenance
The federal government and the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) have urged technicians to take advantage of various government policies, particularly those related to technological innovations, to advance their businesses.
They emphasised that the youth, who make up a significant portion of the nation’s population, should focus their energies on contributing to GDP growth by seizing the opportunities provided by the current administration.
In their separate remarks during the launch of the NADDC Specialised Mechatronics Training for the repair and maintenance of petrol/CNG tricycles, which involves 50 youths, both the federal government and NADDC highlighted the importance of the nation keeping pace with global technological advancements through active youth participation.
Dr. Titilope Gbadamosi, the Special Assistant to the President on Youth Initiatives (Monitoring and Delivery), underscored the necessity of training youths to build a workforce of competitive technicians.
According to her, ‘Nigerian youths must be trained to build a workforce of competent technicians who can maintain and service CNG tricycles safely.
Gbadamosi said the participants would form part of a new generation of skilled technicians and innovators.
According to Gbadamosi, they will not only repair machines but also sustain their livelihood and improve mobility.
She said that her office would continue to work with all ministries, agencies, and industry stakeholders to ensure young people were not left behind in the growth of Nigeria’s economy.
The success of the training, she said, would inspire others and contribute to improved expertise in Nigeria, which could, in turn, be exported to other countries of the world.
Speaking in the same vein. NADDC Director-General (DG), Mr Oluwemimo Osanipin, said that the four-day training is aimed at empowering Nigerian youths through practical and industry-driven skills.
Osanipin, represented by Mrs Joke Onireti, Director, Industrial Infrastructure Department, NADDC, said that with the adoption of CNG in Nigeria, training on the new technology became imperative to prevent Nigerian youths and auto technicians from being left out of jobs.
