FG Reaffirms Commitment To Transform Nigeria’s Aviation Sector
The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to transforming Nigeria’s aviation sector through improved safety, infrastructure development, enhanced passenger experience, job creation, and stronger stakeholder engagement.
The commitment was reiterated during the Second Quarter 2026 Hybrid Stakeholders/Citizen Engagement on Presidential Priorities and Ministerial Deliverables in the Aviation Sector, held at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Conference Room in Abuja.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Mahmud Kambari, said the engagement reflects the ministry’s dedication to transparency, accountability, collaboration, and innovation in implementing President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Kambari described the quarterly engagement as a strategic platform that brings together government agencies, industry operators, development partners, and citizens to review progress, exchange ideas, and shape the future of Nigeria’s aviation and aerospace industry.
He noted that the ministry has made significant progress in implementing its presidential priorities and ministerial deliverables, particularly in enhancing aviation safety and security, expanding critical infrastructure, modernising airports and air navigation systems, promoting local content, creating employment opportunities, and improving passengers’ travel experience.
According to him, the aviation sector remains a critical driver of national development by facilitating trade, tourism, investment, regional integration, and global connectivity.
He stressed that sustained collaboration among government, private sector operators, development partners, and the public is essential to building a resilient, efficient, and globally competitive aviation industry.
Kambari said the engagement also provided an opportunity to evaluate achievements, identify emerging challenges, draw lessons from implementation, and obtain stakeholder feedback to strengthen policy execution and service delivery across the sector.
He encouraged participants to offer practical recommendations and innovative ideas that would support evidence-based decision-making and accelerate the ministry’s strategic objectives.
The permanent secretary reaffirmed the Federal Government’s resolve to develop an aviation sector that meets and exceeds global standards, while stimulating economic growth, attracting investment, creating sustainable jobs, and delivering world-class services to domestic and international travellers.
He also appreciated stakeholders for their continued support, expressing confidence that the outcomes of the engagement would translate into practical actions that would deepen collaboration and further advance Nigeria’s aviation industry.
Earlier, in a welcome address delivered on his behalf by Mr. Peter Vembe, Kambari described the engagement as a strategic platform for dialogue, collaboration, and shared responsibility in advancing the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the aviation sector.
He emphasised that sustainable growth in the industry can only be achieved through strong partnerships among government, industry stakeholders, and citizens, urging participants attending both physically and virtually to contribute ideas that would support the development of a safer, more efficient, innovative, and globally competitive aviation sector.
