FRSC Deploys Personnel For Eid-el-Kabir Safety Operations In Niger, Jigawa
The Federal Road Safety Corps has deployed hundreds of personnel, patrol vehicles, ambulances, and other operational equipment across Niger and Jigawa states to ensure safety and free movement during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
In Niger State, the Sector Commander of the FRSC, A’ishat Sa’adu, disclosed in a statement issued in Minna on Monday that 600 personnel had been mobilised for a special operation covering major highways across the state.
According to her, the operation commenced on Monday, May 25, and is aimed at ensuring smooth traffic flow, providing prompt rescue services, and enhancing the safety of motorists and other road users before, during, and after the festive period.
Sa’adu stated that the command had also deployed 12 patrol vehicles, one tow truck, and three ambulances to support the exercise.
She stressed the importance of collaboration with other security agencies to protect lives and property throughout the celebration.
The sector commander further advised motorists to obey traffic regulations, avoid speeding, and refrain from driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
“Motorists and other road users are advised to obey all traffic rules and regulations, avoid speeding, and refrain from driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs so that they can arrive at their destinations alive,” she said.
Similarly, the FRSC in Jigawa State has deployed 581 personnel, ambulances, and patrol vehicles for its Eid-el-Kabir special operation across the state.
The spokesman for the command, Yahaya Ibrahim, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday in Dutse.
He explained that the deployment comprised 461 regular personnel, 120 special marshals, eight patrol vehicles, and four ambulances positioned at strategic locations to enhance monitoring and rescue operations.
According to Ibrahim, the operation, which runs from May 25 to May 31, is designed to address the expected increase in human and vehicular movement during the Sallah festivities.
He noted that the exercise is focused on reducing road traffic crashes and ensuring safe road use on major highways across the state.
The spokesman added that the corps had intensified public enlightenment campaigns and enforcement of traffic regulations to encourage responsible driving among motorists.
He said the command would also carry out aggressive enforcement and mobile court operations against traffic offences, including speeding, dangerous driving, wrongful overtaking, lane indiscipline, overloading, use of mobile phones while driving, and underage driving.
Other offences targeted include seatbelt and child restraint violations, operation of mechanically deficient vehicles, illegal use of spy number plates, and conveying passengers in trailers.
The FRSC assured members of the public of its commitment to maintaining traffic order and ensuring the safety of lives and property throughout the festive period.
