The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Lagos State Sector Command has been declared the best-performing command in the country for the 2024 operational year, according to the Corps’ Annual Command Assessment released at the Fourth Quarter Strategy Session in Abuja.

The Command topped all other sector commands nationwide based on key performance indicators, while its Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde Ganiyu Hamzat, also emerged first among all sector commanders for exemplary leadership and operational excellence.

The assessment, endorsed by the Corps Marshal, Mallam Shehu Mohammed, recognised Lagos Sector Command’s achievements in enforcement efficiency, public education, response operations, administrative coordination, and strategic alignment with national safety objectives.

Addressing senior officers during the Abuja meeting, the Corps Marshal praised commands for their contributions to national road safety efforts but urged them to intensify operations in the last quarter of the year. He stressed that the end-of-year period typically experiences heightened traffic activity, requiring improved discipline, visibility, and tactical interventions across all formations.

Mohammed charged commanding officers to raise enforcement standards and ensure measurable outcomes, noting that the Corps was committed to delivering a crash-free December through enhanced patrols, sustained public enlightenment, and strategic deployment of personnel nationwide.

Responding to the recognition, Corps Commander Hamzat expressed appreciation to the Corps Marshal and the FRSC leadership, dedicating the achievement to officers and marshals of the Lagos Sector Command. He described the award as a motivation to further strengthen operational capacity and uphold the Corps’ mandate.

Hamzat reiterated the Command’s commitment to scaling up public education campaigns, expanding stakeholder partnerships, and deepening collaboration with security agencies to ensure safer road use across Lagos State.

He affirmed that the Lagos Sector Command would continue to lead initiatives that support FRSC’s core objectives of reducing crashes, curbing fatalities, and promoting responsible driving culture among road users.

The FRSC Lagos Sector Command noted that it remains resolute in sustaining its top-ranking status through professionalism, innovation, and unwavering dedication to safeguarding lives on Nigerian roads.
