FRSC Prosecutes 63 Traffic Offenders In Ogun Mobile Court Over Traffic Violations
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Sector Command, has prosecuted 63 motorists before a Mobile Court in Sagamu for various traffic offences as part of its ongoing Special Intervention Patrol, codenamed “Operation ABO, Safe Passage.”
The offenders were arraigned before Magistrate Fisayo W. Okuboyejo, who convicted all 63 motorists. No case was discharged or adjourned.
The command’s spokesperson, SRC Florence Afolabi Odunsi, disclosed that a total of 135 traffic offences were recorded during the enforcement exercise.
According to her, the offences included 31 cases of Speed Limiting Device (SLD) violations, 20 driver’s licence violations, 15 overloading offences, 13 vehicle licence violations, 11 light and signal violations, nine seat belt violations, seven number plate violations, seven wrongful vehicle violations, five certificate of roadworthiness violations, five fire extinguisher violations, and five tyre violations.
Other offences recorded were three cases of dangerous driving, two passenger loading offences, two fake number plate violations, one child restraint violation, one failure to comply with a marshal’s directive, and one vehicle mirror violation.
Odunsi noted that Speed Limiting Device violations accounted for the highest number of offences, describing the trend as a reflection of continued non-compliance with speed management regulations despite their importance in preventing road traffic crashes.
The Ogun Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, said the Special Intervention Patrol is designed to reduce road crashes through sustained enforcement, public enlightenment, and strict prosecution of traffic offenders.
He urged motorists to comply with all traffic regulations, warning that violations capable of endangering lives would continue to attract appropriate sanctions.
Ogunjobi also commended the judiciary, security agencies, and members of the public for their support, while calling on all road users to cooperate with FRSC personnel in promoting safer roads across the state.
