KADRA Boss Inspects Kaduna Road Projects, Expresses Satisfaction With Progress
The Managing Director of the Kaduna State Roads Agency (KADRA), Dr. Abdullahi Baba Ahmed, has expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work on ongoing township road projects across Kaduna State, assuring residents that the projects will be completed according to specifications and within stipulated timelines.
Dr. Ahmed gave the assurance during an inspection tour of road construction sites in Rigasa, Ungwan Romi, PAN Drive, Sokoto Road, Millennium City and Kabala Costain communities, where the Kaduna State Government is executing major infrastructure projects aimed at improving transportation and living standards.
Speaking during the inspection of the Makera Road project in Rigasa, the KADRA boss commended the contractor, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), for the quality of work recorded so far.
He disclosed that the contractor had been directed to intensify construction activities ahead of the peak of the rainy season, noting that all compensation issues involving affected property owners had been resolved by the state government.
“The contractor has been given two months to deliver this critical infrastructure to the people of Rigasa,” he said.
Ahmed said the agency was particularly impressed with the quality of the drainage and hydraulic structures being constructed on the project.
“As you can see, the drainage and hydraulic structures are progressing well. They are using precast concrete and have submitted their laboratory test results, which meet the required standards,” he stated.
He appealed to residents to remain patient throughout the construction period, acknowledging the temporary inconveniences associated with road works, while commending community leaders for their cooperation and support.
The inspection team also visited the dual carriageway and bridge project linking Kaduna North and Kaduna South Local Government Areas through Aliyu Makama Road in Barnawa.
According to Ahmed, the project was inherited at about 30 per cent completion, with limited progress previously recorded on the Kaduna North section of the bridge.
He revealed that 42 out of the 56 bridge beams had already been launched, while the remaining beams are expected to be installed within the next 10 days.
“The work is progressing satisfactorily. We have given the contractor marching orders to complete this road to ease traffic congestion along the Ahmadu Bello Way corridor. We expect the road to be open to traffic before the end of August,” he said.
Ahmed highlighted the scale of road infrastructure development under Governor Uba Sani’s administration, noting that the government had initiated 150 new road projects in addition to inherited ones, covering a total of 1,345 kilometres across the state’s 23 local government areas.
He added that while many of the projects had already been completed, others were at different stages of execution.
Also speaking, the consultant supervising the Rigasa project, Engr. Usman Muhammed Abdulkadir, confirmed that the contractor was strictly adhering to approved specifications.
“The contractor has complied with all technical requirements. Property relocation issues have been resolved, and we are optimistic that the project will be delivered within the next two months,” he said.
The Dakachi of Rigasa Community, Alhaji Abubakar Yahuza, described the road project as a major intervention that would improve transportation and boost economic activities in the area.
He noted that the road serves as a strategic link connecting Rigasa with Mando, Kaduna Airport and other parts of the state.
Officials said the inspection tour underscores the commitment of the Governor Uba Sani administration to ensuring that infrastructure projects are delivered in line with contractual specifications and within approved timelines.
