Lagos, Ogun State Governments Issue Joint Statement On Motor Crash Involving Anthony Joshua

OLORUNDARE ENIMOLA, Lagos

The Governments of Ogun and Lagos States hereby confirm that British-Nigerian, two-time unified world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, was involved in a road traffic accident earlier today along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.

The accident involved a vehicle conveying a team of four persons, which reportedly collided with a stationary truck, resulting in the unfortunate loss of two lives.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Information Ogun State, extend their deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and pray that Almighty God grants them the fortitude to bear this painful loss.

Anthony Joshua and one other passenger were promptly evacuated to a specialised medical facility in Lagos, where they underwent comprehensive medical evaluation.

Medical experts have confirmed that both patients are stable and do not require any emergency surgical intervention at this time. A dedicated medical team has been assembled to continue close monitoring.

Anthony Joshua is conscious and has been in communication with his family.

The Ogun and Lagos State Governments are jointly monitoring the situation and will ensure that all affected persons receive the highest standard of medical care. Meanwhile, relevant authorities have commenced investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
