OLORUNDARE ENIMOLA, Lagos

The Lagos State Drivers Institute (LASDRI) has extended warm felicitations to Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, while calling for strict adherence to road safety regulations and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.

In a statement marking the celebration, the General Manager of LASDRI, Tiamiyu Afusat, urged motorists and other road users to embrace peace, tolerance, and mutual respect, noting that acts of violence and intolerance contradict the core values of Islam.

She emphasised the importance of peaceful coexistence and consideration for others, particularly in road usage, during and beyond the festive period.

According to her, Eid-el-Fitr signifies the end of the Ramadan fast and represents gratitude, spiritual renewal, and unity within communities. She added that the celebration also highlights the importance of supporting the less privileged and strengthening family ties.

Tiamiyu disclosed that LASDRI had commenced an awareness campaign across major motor parks in Lagos State to educate drivers and passengers on their rights and responsibilities.

She noted that passengers should be empowered to caution drivers against unsafe practices during trips.

She stressed that compliance with traffic laws remains both a legal and civic responsibility necessary for the protection of lives and property.

The LASDRI boss further advised motorists to prioritise safety by avoiding speeding and overloading, ensuring vehicle roadworthiness, limiting night travel, and utilising emergency toll-free lines when necessary.

She wished Muslims in Lagos State and across the country a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration, urging all road users to drive responsibly and obey traffic regulations.
