Makinde Praised As Ojongbodu Residents Hail Road Reconstruction

Residents of Ojongbodu and neighbouring communities in Oyo Township have commended Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for completing the first phase of the reconstruction of the Ladindin–Iseke–Ojongbodu–Jagun–Olokomeje Road, describing the project as a major boost to infrastructure and socio-economic development in the area.

The appreciation was conveyed in a letter jointly signed by the Olodu of Ojongbodu, Oba Olaniyi Adeoye Adegboye III, and members of the community.

The monarch described the reconstructed road as one of the most significant development projects undertaken in the community in decades, saying it has improved transportation, enhanced the environment and stimulated economic activities.

According to him, the road serves as a strategic link connecting the Ladindin, Iseke, Ojongbodu, Jagun and Olokomeje communities, making movement easier for residents, commuters and businesses.

“We sincerely appreciate Governor Seyi Makinde for fulfilling his promise to reconstruct our major access road. The project has not only improved mobility but has also given our community a new lease of life,” Oba Adegboye said.

He recalled that the road was last tarred during his childhood when his father served as the Baale of Ojongbodu, noting that the current project represents the most comprehensive rehabilitation of the road in many years.

The traditional ruler also acknowledged the contributions of former Senator representing Oyo Central, Monsurat Olajumoke Sunmonu, the Executive Chairman of Oyo West Local Government, Akeem Babatunde Salami, and other stakeholders for supporting the execution of the project.

He further commended the contractor, Quickborn Nigeria Limited, for delivering what he described as a quality project executed to modern engineering standards.

Speaking on behalf of residents, Busari Ismail Bolanle of Ladindin-Ekewa Compound said the reconstruction had restored hope to the communities after decades of neglect. He noted that the improved road has eased transportation, enhanced accessibility and boosted commercial activities.

Similarly, Sulaimon Shittu of Ayekisorun Compound, Apena, Iseke, described Makinde as a leader who fulfils his promises. He also praised Sunmonu and other stakeholders for supporting the project, adding that the road has improved the movement of people and goods while encouraging local businesses.

Another resident, Bolanle Mojeed Agbaje of Ile Baale, Ojongbodu, described the reconstruction as the most impactful infrastructure project ever undertaken in the area by any administration. He highlighted the quality of the drainage systems, culverts and asphalt pavement, while commending the governor, Salami, Sunmonu and the Chief of Staff to the Oyo West Local Government chairman for responding to the community’s long-standing appeal.

The residents expressed optimism that the remaining phases of the road project would be completed, describing the reconstruction as a major milestone in the development of Ojongbodu and adjoining communities.
