NADDC Trains 150 Technicians, Youths In Heavy-Duty Vehicle Maintenance

The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) has trained 150 automotive technicians and young people across Kogi, Edo and Oyo states as part of efforts to strengthen technical skills in Nigeria’s heavy-duty vehicle subsector.

The two-week specialised training programme, organised in collaboration with BRYTE AUTO. TECH & DIAGNOSTICS LTD, commenced on August 10, 2026, with 50 participants selected from each of the three states.

MAX FON GLOBAL NIG. LTD, the technical consultant engaged for the programme, is providing the participants with practical and technical training focused on the operation, diagnosis, servicing, repair and maintenance of heavy-duty vehicles, including agricultural tractors.

In Edo State, 50 participants drawn from different parts of the state are receiving hands-on instruction designed to improve their ability to identify mechanical faults, carry out repairs and properly maintain heavy-duty vehicles and agricultural machinery.

Similar training sessions are being conducted simultaneously in Kogi and Oyo states, with 50 participants benefiting in each location, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 150.

The initiative is part of NADDC’s broader efforts to upgrade the skills of automotive technicians, promote youth empowerment and develop human capital within Nigeria’s automotive industry. It is also intended to equip young people with practical and employable skills that can enable them to pursue careers and business opportunities in the heavy-duty vehicle sector.

The inclusion of agricultural tractors in the programme is expected to boost the availability of skilled technicians capable of servicing and maintaining machinery used in the agricultural sector, thereby reducing dependence on external technical support.

According to the organisers, the training is expected to conclude on August 21, after which participants will receive certificates and empowerment tools to enable them to apply the skills acquired, improve their services and establish or expand their businesses.

The programme is expected to contribute to the development of a stronger pool of locally trained technicians capable of supporting Nigeria’s growing automotive, agricultural and industrial sectors.
