Nigeria’s Oil Output Falls 4% To 1.67mbpd In July — NUPRC
Nigeria’s daily oil production declined by four per cent in July 2026, dropping to 1.67 million barrels per day (mbpd) from 1.74mbpd recorded in June, according to data released by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
The latest figures showed that the country produced 1.505mbpd of crude oil and 0.17mbpd of condensate during the month, bringing total daily production to 1.67mbpd.
Despite the decline, Nigeria maintained production above the 1.5mbpd Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) quota for the third consecutive month.
NUPRC data further indicated that combined crude oil and condensate production reached a peak of 1.78mbpd in July, while the lowest daily output stood at 1.57mbpd.
The July figure represents a decline from the 1.70mbpd recorded in May and 1.74mbpd in June. Production had stood at 1.663mbpd in April, 1.546mbpd in March, 1.483mbpd in February and 1.627mbpd in January.
The regulator attributed the July decline mainly to operational challenges at the Erha and Akpo oil fields, which affected production volumes during the period.
According to NUPRC, the disruptions constrained output and contributed significantly to the reduction in national production.
It, however, noted that operations across most other producing assets remained relatively stable, with operators implementing measures to sustain production efficiency and minimise the impact of operational constraints.
The latest figures underscore the continued challenges facing Nigeria’s oil sector, as disruptions at key producing assets continue to affect overall output despite the country’s production remaining above its OPEC quota.
