NPA Clears Port Bottlenecks, Releases NDPHC Power Equipment

The Nigerian Ports Authority has facilitated the recovery and clearance of critical power equipment belonging to the Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited, removing a major bottleneck that had delayed the consignments at various Nigerian seaports.

The intervention is expected to support the timely execution of critical power projects across the country and save the NDPHC billions of naira in potential losses.

The NDPHC Managing Director, Jennifer Adighije, disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the NPA Managing Director, Abubakar Dantsoho, and his management team in Lagos.

Adighije commended the NPA for its intervention, describing the recovery and clearance of the equipment as crucial to strengthening the country’s power infrastructure and ensuring the completion of ongoing and planned projects.

She said the equipment was required for critical NDPHC projects, adding that prolonged delays in recovering and clearing the consignments could have disrupted project timelines, increased costs and undermined efforts to improve electricity supply.

According to her, the NPA’s intervention had facilitated the recovery of the valuable equipment while helping the NDPHC avoid substantial financial losses.

She called for sustained collaboration among the NDPHC, NPA and other relevant agencies in the energy and maritime sectors to address bureaucratic bottlenecks and ensure the timely delivery of critical infrastructure projects.

Responding, Dantsoho reaffirmed the NPA’s commitment to supporting partnerships and initiatives that contribute to national development.

He stressed that reliable electricity supply was essential to economic growth, industrialisation and improved living standards, assuring the NDPHC that the authority would continue to collaborate with government agencies and other stakeholders.

Dantsoho also pledged the NPA’s continued support for the smooth movement and clearance of critical equipment, particularly those needed for projects aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s infrastructure and promoting economic development.
