NRC Intercepts Railway Track Vandals In Bauchi

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting critical rail infrastructure following the interception and arrest of suspected railway track vandals in Bauchi State.

Reacting to the development on his X handle on Tuesday, the Managing Director of the NRC, Dr Kayode Opeifa, described the successful interception as a clear indication that the corporation’s renewed security framework is yielding positive results.

He explained that the current management has intensified surveillance across rail corridors, strengthened collaboration with relevant security agencies and adopted a zero-tolerance stance against vandalism and theft of railway assets.

According to Opeifa, the arrest of suspects involved in stealing railway tracks sends a strong message that railway infrastructure remains under firm protection and that individuals who threaten national assets will be held accountable.

He stressed that the NRC remains resolute in safeguarding public investments, ensuring the safety and integrity of rail operations and restoring public confidence in Nigeria’s railway system.

Opeifa added that the corporation would continue to deploy proactive security measures and strategic partnerships to deter criminal activities along rail lines nationwide, as part of broader efforts to guarantee safe, reliable and sustainable rail transportation across the country.
