Overturned Trailer Triggers Gridlock Along Ogunnusi Road Inward Berger

Motorists and commuters experienced heavy traffic on Sunday after a trailer loaded with cartons overturned on Ogunnusi Road inward Berger, near Kosoko Junction in Lagos, following a mechanical failure.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) said the incident occurred overnight when the trailer’s suspension system failed, causing the vehicle to collapse onto its tyres.

According to the agency, emergency response teams were immediately deployed to the scene to manage traffic and facilitate recovery operations.

LASTMA said the affected section of the road was cordoned off from the Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) Turning, while a contraflow arrangement was introduced from VIS Turning to River Valley to ease congestion and maintain vehicular movement.

The authority added that officials from its Rescue Team and Zone 26 Command were supervising the operation, while the trailer’s cargo was being transferred to a flatbed truck to enable the removal of the overturned vehicle.

Recovery and transloading operations were still ongoing as of the time of filing this report, with LASTMA assuring road users that further updates would be provided as efforts continued to restore normal traffic flow.

The agency advised motorists to exercise patience and cooperate with traffic officials while the clearance operation is completed.
