Oyo Announces Traffic Diversion Ahead Of Youth Concert
The Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) has announced temporary traffic diversions and road closures in parts of Ibadan ahead of the BOYE NATION/JAF Movement Concert scheduled for Monday.
The traffic management measures were disclosed on Saturday by the chairman of OYRTMA, Major Adekoya Adesagba (retd.), during a press briefing at the authority’s headquarters in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Adesagba said the restrictions were introduced to facilitate the smooth movement of traffic and ensure the safety of motorists, pedestrians and other road users, given the expected influx of attendees to the concert.
According to him, VIP guests with valid event stickers or entry passes would park at Gate 2, while other attendees would use the Recreation Field opposite Gate 3 in Sabo, which has been designated as the main parking area for the event.
He added that PTS buses would be stationed at the recreation field to transport guests to the concert venue, while Gates 1 and 3 would be reserved strictly for pedestrian access.
The OYRTMA chairman advised concert attendees to make use of the designated parking facilities and avoid driving directly to the venue.
He further announced that roads leading to the stadium would be temporarily closed to motorists and members of the public without business at the venue, urging them to use alternative routes during the period of the event.
Adesagba stated that the Danax en route Sabo Recreation Junction and Queen Cinema en route Eko Tedo would be closed to vehicular traffic from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
He appealed to motorists, commercial transport operators and residents in the affected areas to plan their journeys in advance and comply with traffic signs and directives issued by OYRTMA personnel deployed to strategic locations.
The chairman explained that the temporary restrictions were necessary to minimise congestion and ensure the orderly movement of people and vehicles during the concert.
He also assured residents that the authority would deploy adequate personnel to monitor traffic flow and respond promptly to any challenges before, during and after the event.
Adesagba urged members of the public to cooperate with OYRTMA and other security agencies, stressing that compliance with the traffic arrangements would contribute to the safety of road users and the smooth conduct of the programme.
The BOYE NATION/JAF Movement Concert is expected to bring together Oyo youths through music and entertainment, while also serving as the official platform for Boye Nation’s political declaration for the Allied Peoples Movement.
