Residents Lauds Bridge Construction On Marabar Yakawada-Kaya Road

The reconstruction of the Store Bridge along the Marabar Yakawada–Kaya Road in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State has revived economic activities and restored access to several communities that were cut off for more than two decades.

Residents told newsmen during a media tour, that the bridge has improved the movement of people, farm produce, and goods, ending years of hardship caused by the collapse of the structure, particularly during the rainy season.

The bridge, which serves as a strategic link between communities in Giwa Local Government Area and neighbouring parts of Katsina State, had long been abandoned, affecting transportation, healthcare delivery, and commercial activities.

Residents said the reconstruction has boost agricultural activities, improved access to markets and healthcare facilities, and reduced travel time and transportation costs for commuters and traders.

A commercial driver, Malam Shehu Muharazu, said motorists previously relied on longer alternative routes through Katsina State to reach their destinations whenever the bridge became inaccessible.

Another farmer, Malam Ibrahim Muhammadu, noted that the project has eased the movement of farmers and agricultural produce, while another resident, Malam Muhammad Aminu, said it has improved access to emergency healthcare services in surrounding communities.

The Kaduna State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, described the bridge as a critical infrastructure project that reflects Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to rural development and improving the welfare of citizens.

He said the state government would continue to invest in strategic infrastructure aimed at stimulating economic growth, and enhancing the quality of life of residents.
