Seven Killed, Two Injured In Multiple Crash On Kara-Ibafo Road
Seven people have been killed and two others injured in a multiple road traffic crash involving three vehicles at Kara, Ibafo, along the Ibafo-Lagos corridor in Ogun State.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) disclosed that the fatal crash occurred at about 12:03 a.m. on Monday, August 24, 2026.
According to a statement issued by the FRSC Ogun State Command Public Education Officer, Superintendent Route Commander Afolabi Odunsi, nine male occupants were involved in the crash.
The vehicles involved were a white HOWO CNG/CIMC ENRIC truck, a white MACK trailer and a Mitsubishi Canter with registration number JJJ920YA.
The FRSC said its Ibafo Outpost received information about the crash at about 12:04 a.m. and arrived at the scene approximately five minutes later.
The agency classified the incident as a fatal multiple road traffic crash, with speed violation identified as the probable cause, subject to further investigation.
The seven deceased victims were evacuated from the scene by the Ogun State Ambulance Service, while the two injured victims were taken to a medical facility for treatment.
The crashed vehicles were subsequently handed over to the Motor Traffic Division of the Nigeria Police Force in Ibafo for further necessary action.
Reacting to the incident, the FRSC Ogun State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, urged motorists, particularly drivers of articulated vehicles, to exercise greater caution and avoid behaviours capable of endangering other road users.
Ogunjobi advised motorists to shun excessive speeding, maintain safe following distances and remain vigilant while driving.
He further warned motorists to exercise extra caution at night, noting that poor visibility and driver fatigue could increase the likelihood of road traffic crashes.
The sector commander expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery.
