Taraba Gov Kefas Constitutes Committee To Monitor Road Projects
Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has constituted a five-man committee to inspect and monitor road construction and rehabilitation projects across the state’s 16 local government areas.
The committee’s composition was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday in Jalingo by the Secretary to the State Government, Timothy Gebon Kataps.
According to the statement, the committee is mandated to monitor ongoing road projects and ensure that contractors comply with approved standards and specifications.
The development follows concerns from residents over the state of some road projects, with complaints ranging from alleged abandonment and damage caused by rainfall to poor drainage systems and the use of substandard materials in some drainage works.
The committee is also expected to assess the progress and quality of the projects, identify deficiencies and recommend areas requiring urgent government intervention.
The state government said the initiative was aimed at strengthening the supervision of infrastructure projects and ensuring that public funds allocated to road development yield the desired benefits for residents.
Residents, however, have expressed expectations that the committee will go beyond inspection by ensuring that identified defects are promptly addressed and contractors adhere strictly to approved specifications.
