TikToker Alleges Harassment While Exposing BRT Bus Shortage In Lagos

A Lagos-based TikToker has alleged that she was harassed by transport staff while documenting long queues and a shortage of buses at the Ikorodu Bus Rapid Transit terminal.

The content creator, known on TikTok as darkskinnedella (@ella_the_fashionistar), shared videos showing commuters waiting for hours to board BRT buses along the busy Ikorodu corridor.
In one of the videos, she claimed she was confronted after speaking up about the situation and recording footage of passengers standing in long queues.

The TikToker, who said she relocated to Lagos between September and October 2025, explained that she wakes up as early as 4 a.m. to prepare for work on Lagos Island and usually arrives at the terminal between 5:30 a.m. and 6 a.m.

Despite arriving early, she said commuters often spend more than two hours before boarding a bus.
The situation reportedly escalated on Tuesday when a woman she identified as a transport staff member attempted to stop her from recording.

“Don’t make any video today. If you make any video today, I will seize your phone,” the woman was heard saying in one of the clips.
The TikToker insisted she would continue documenting the situation until buses were provided for commuters.

She also alleged that a man later threatened her for posting the videos after people reportedly recognised him in the footage.
According to her, the shortage may have been caused by the chartering of several BRT buses for an event, leaving commuters stranded at the terminal.

When contacted, the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority requested a formal email, saying a response would be provided later.
Complaints about long queues and insufficient buses along BRT routes, particularly the Ikorodu corridor, have persisted for years, with many commuters relying on the system because it is cheaper and operates on dedicated lanes.
