Uba Sani Inaugurates Road ‘Connecting 76 Farming Communities’ In Kaduna
Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, has inaugurated a 35-kilometre asphaltic road described as the “longest constructed in the state in more than two decades”.
The road links Gadan Gayan through Gwaraji to Kujama junction, spanning Igabi, Kajuru, and Chikun LGAs and connecting over 76 farming communities.
According to the state government, the project features a 130-metre bridge across River Kaduna to serve rural populations along the corridor.
At the commissioning ceremony on Monday, Sani called the project a “historic milestone” in the state’s infrastructure development, saying it reflects his administration’s inclusive and people-centred approach.
He recalled that the project was flagged off in January 2024 with a pledge to deliver a durable transport corridor.
“Through disciplined planning, professional execution, and collective commitment, that promise has been fulfilled,” he said.
The governor said the road will serve as an alternative route that eases pressure on the frequently congested Kaduna metropolis, reducing travel time and costs for commuters and traders.
“Emergency services will respond faster, schoolchildren will get to class more easily, and families will have better access to healthcare, markets, and social services,” Sani said.
He said the road connects productive rural farms directly to markets, aggregation centres, processing facilities, and urban demand hubs.
“This will cut post-harvest losses and strengthen agricultural value chains. This is the quiet but powerful multiplier effect of well-planned infrastructure,” he said.
The governor said the project tackles long-standing imbalances in public investment, adding that Kajuru, one of 12 LGAs in the state, had not seen a major road project in over 12 years.
“This prolonged neglect held back economic activity and that reality was unacceptable,” the governor said, reaffirming his commitment to reversing decades of under-investment in such communities.
He said the road is part of a larger initiative involving 140 road projects covering 1,335 kilometres across the state.
